OUR LEGAL PRACTICE AREAS

Bail applications

The accused person can apply at any stage of the court proceedings for bail when he or she is before the court. Normally after arrest the accused must be brought before a court within 48 hours of arrest and he or she may then apply to be released on warning or bail if the case is not finalised on that day.

Criminal trials and appeals

An individual who's been convicted of a crime may "appeal" their case, or ask a higher court to review certain aspects of the case for legal error.

Civil suits

In general terms, a civil lawsuit is the court-based process through which Person A can seek to hold Person B liable for some type of harm or wrongful act. Usually, if Person A is successful, he or she will usually be awarded compensation for the harm that resulted from Person B's action or inaction.

Motor vehicle accidents

A traffic collision, also called a motor vehicle collision (MVC) among other terms, occurs when a vehicle collides with another vehicle, pedestrian, animal, road debris, or other stationary obstruction, such as a tree, pole or building. Traffic collisions often result in injury, disability, death, and property damage as well as financial costs to both society and the individuals involved.
